I nominate Steve Hunt for his groundbreaking research and leadership on convergence. Over the years, he has led the industry to think more clearly about how to avoid the pitfalls of weak ROI formulations and how to extract the most value from security investments. He has helped many chief security officers look like heroes as they implement his recommendations and elevate security to the level of "business enabler."

He is most influential on the right and wrong ways to get IT and physical security personnel to work together. At Deloitte, we have been listening with interest to Steve over the years, and feel he deserves this award.

Steve Hunt, president, 4A International is a great choice for this award. He is the guy who first articulated many of the best ideas about convergence. He described the right and wrong ways to converge IT and physical security teams in 2003.

Steve described in detail the role of the CSO back in 2002. He constantly speaks in keynotes and webinars and writes monthly columns about how to do ROI the right way, how to select technologies for convergence and how to motivate people to collaborate across traditional boundaries.

Steve left his job as the head of Forrester's famous security practice to start a research and consulting company focused on convergence.

As a fellow consultant, I appreciate the time and advice Steve has given me over the last few years. I have learned a lot from our association and friendship. He volunteers his time to advise ISSA, ASIS, Open Security Exchange and industry groups around the world. As a result, Steve is very well known throughout the security industry and well connected within it. I feel he has proved that he is dedicated to convergence, and we are all doing security better because of him.
