John Petruzzi has worked at Constellation Energy for about five years. In the short time he has been there, he has revolutionized the company's security stance. For example:

The Security Operations Center (once organizationally within the facilities department) has become a fully converged physical and logical SOC in the aspects of people, process and technology.
John has formulated and socialized a "one organization, one mission, one vision" strategy across risk management. The result is a holistic approach to risk management throughout the organization.
John has implemented economies of scale in staffing, processes and technologies that have decreased security spending and increased ROI.
John has demonstrated leadership in sharing convergence accomplishments outside of his own enterprise (community building).
John has unified the security department under his leadership. He has clearly conveyed his vision for security to all personnel in his group. His unit fully supports John's vision.
John has actively pursued relationships with leaders in other areas of the organization. He has earned their respect and admiration, which has given way to cooperative relationships across the enterprise.
John consistently engages personnel within his group, empowers his staff to make decisions and enforce policies, and adds to the reward of contributing to the security of the company.

Being among John's staff myself, I can say that his contributions to the department have literally come to define the department. John's vision, commitment and business values are shared among his personnel because he effectively communicates and manifests them. Based on my experience and interaction with security personnel from around the country, I consider John to be one of the nation's elite security leaders. He is certainly deserving of this award and recognition.
